PRODUCTS WE OFFER

Below are some of the most popular hermetic seals we offer. Don’t see what you like? Feel free to ask, we can build to order.
Custom Hermetic Seal

Custom Hermetic Seal

RHSeals will work with you to create a custom hermetic seal for your project. Send us a drawing, or we can help you create a drawing. Whether you need a high voltage feedthrough, multi pin vacuum feedthrough, or d sub connector, we will create the perfect custom fit.

Hermetic Wire Feedthrough

A Hermetic Wire Feedthrough provides a better fit and allow for better use of space than a standard bulkhead connector, allowing you to customize the number of wires and size of the housing needed for your unique project. Projects range from military-grade vehicles to medical equipment.

Cable Seal

Hermetic Cable Feedthrough

Hermetic cable feedthroughs offer more strength than a wire feedthrough and allow for more control with electrical transfer. These cable feedthroughs are commonly used in industries similar to wire feedthroughs: military vehicles, medical equipment, and industrial machinery.

Hermetic Connector

Hermetic Connector

RHSeals makes a variety of sealed connectors ranging from a sealed USB connector to a sealed panel mount connector. These connectors can be used in industries including automotive and aerospace, and can be customized based on your project needs.

Fiber Optic Bulkhead Feedthrough

Fiber Optic Bulkhead Feedthrough

Fiber optic bulkhead adapters allow more data to be transferred over a longer distance than traditional cable feedthroughs, especially when bundled as cables. A fiber vacuum feedthrough hosts a variety of uses, although it is ideal for use in the aerospace and laboratory applications.

High Current Feedthrough

High Current Feedthrough

High current seals are important in high power applications such as compressors, AC and refrigeration units, and semiconductor manufacturing. Even in varying industries, RHSeals can develop seals that can withstand the harshest of conditions out of almost any materials.
Thermocouple Feedthrough

Thermocouple Feedthrough

A Thermocouple Vacuum Feedthrough is used as a tool for temperature sensing by pairing two metals that are dissimilar. Typically used in lab settings, our hermetic thermocouple feedthroughs can be customized with any number of pairs that you need for your project.

Explosion Proof Hermetic Seals

Explosion Proof Hermetic Seals

Explosion Proof seals are important for industries where there is a risk of explosion due to combustible gases or flammable dust and fibers. These industries include aerospace, industrial, or oil and gas, or any environment where there is risk for explosions.

Non Hermetic Seals

Non-Hermetic Wire Harness

Non-hermetic wire harness are used when a hermetic seal is not required. Cable harnesses, for example, can be used in the automobile industry to consolidate the number of cables and wires by binding them into a group.

CUSTOM HERMETIC SEAL

Custom hermetic seals allow for more flexibility in your projects. If the industry standard isn’t standard for your company, we’ll work with you to redefine the standard! We can process low or high volume orders of custom work including any prototypes that you may need. Custom seals may be more expensive in the short term, but due to the flexibility of the designs, a custom hermetic seal may be the best fit for your project. With a “one size fits all” seal, you may be forced to replace a part that isn’t the absolute perfect fit, pay high maintenance fees, and waste valuable space. RHSeals will provide you with the best custom fit while remaining cost-effective for any of your connector, wire or cable feedthrough, thermocouple, or fiber optic needs. Contact us to discuss drawings that you have already, or to develop a new drawing for the hermetic seal that you need.

FIBER OPTIC BULKHEAD FEEDTHROUGH

A fiber vacuum feedthrough must follow two different standards – those of vacuum seals and those of optical fibers.

Vacuum seals must follow regulations based on helium leakage, outgassing, materials used, and bake-out temperature. In addition to these standards, the optical fiber regulations include compatibility with fiber connectors and low insertion loss/high return loss.

The benefits of choosing a fiber feedthrough over a copper wire feedthrough include bandwidth, security, and electrical insulation. A fiber optic feedthrough can carry significantly more data than a copper wire feedthrough at a lower weight and longer distance. It is also much more difficult to tap into the data from an optical fiber because they do not radiate signals like copper wires and it is easier to detect since the cables leak light. Finally, an optical fiber feedthrough doesn’t conduct electricity, so they can be used in the aerospace and automobile industries without fear of conducting electricity near fuel. Plus, as copper prices increase and optical fiber prices decrease, a fiber optic feedthrough could prove to be less expensive than a copper wire feedthrough in the long run!

Can RHSeals seal customer supplied wire, cable, or fiber optics?

RHSeals can seal almost any individual or combination of wire, cable, connector, fiber optics, etc. at any length. Please contact our sales department to discuss your particular material and application. If there are any concerns about our ability to seal to your material, we will try a sample for free.

What are the benefits of a fiber optic feedthrough?

Fiber optic feedthroughs allow for more data transfer, while weighing less than copper. Additionally, they do not conduct electricity, so they are safe for use in engines and other similar environments.

HERMETIC WIRE FEEDTHROUGH

An epoxy sealed wire feedthrough is quite often a better fit for your project than a standard bulkhead connector.

Because of the flexibility offered by a wire feedthrough, using a hermetic wire feedthrough can save space and money where you may normally use a bulkhead connector. Another advantage of a wire feedthrough is that issues regarding voltage drop and or other electrical issues can be avoided.

The ability to use different types of wires and conductors in the same feedthrough also adds to the appeal of a wire feedthrough over a connector. The lifespan of a wire feedthrough often exceeds that of a connector due to the wear on a connector. Repeating the cycle of connecting and disconnecting the connector can shorten the amount of time that a connector lasts, and a wire feedthrough completely removes the cycle.

Can RHSeals hermetically seal stranded wire?

RHSeals can seal stranded wire as well as it seals solid conductor or solid pins. Most RHSeals hermetic seals will pass a helium leak rate of 1X10-8 std-cc/sec or better, and pressure tests up to 11,000 psi (758 bar). Please see the drawing for the individual part number you are interested in to verify the test specifications and operating limits.

How are your wire feedthroughs tested?

As a service to the customers, every seal produced is electrically tested with a computer controlled hi-pot machine and leak tested using either a helium mass spectrometer or a high pressure bubble test before shipment. Certification of tests is included with each shipment.

HERMETIC CONNECTOR

Hermetic connectors are manufactured to withstand the harshest conditions, and can be customized to fit your needs.

In addition to industry standard hermetic seals, RHSeals offers custom hermetic seals to fit your unique project needs. Whether you make adjustments to an industry standard seal or need to design a seal that is exclusive to your company’s projects, we will work with you to create the perfect fit. Our custom seals range from a cable feedthrough to a custom connector and (almost) everything in between!

RHSeals has made thousands of hermetic connectors in the past. Ranging from USB connectors to d subs, RHSeals has practically seen it all. Talk to our sales team to determine if a stock connector or custom connector is best for your project’s needs. Our experienced team will help you find or create the best fit for your project!

Can RHSeals hermetically seal customer supplied connectors?

We have yet to find a connector that we cannot hermetically seal! If you have specific questions or concerns regarding a connector, please contact our sales team.

Are there different housing options for your connectors?

Yes! We offer housing options including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, epoxy, plastics, titanium, brass, nickel, etc.
